HSM SECURIO P40i 1/32 x 3/16 with OMDD Cutting Unit 2x2mm - HSM1884M

The HSM SECURIO P40i HSM1884M is a P-7 departmental shredder that cuts paper to 1/32 x 3/16 in (1 x 5 mm) and pairs it with a separate 2 x 2 mm OMDD unit for optical media and cards, giving a full rating of E-5, F-3, O-6, P-7, T-6. It takes 9 sheets per pass through a 13 in (330 mm) throat into a 38.3-gallon (145-liter) bin. Top-class destruction for paper and media together

No DIN 66399 paper class sits above P-7, and the 1 x 5 mm particle is also the largest residue NSA/CSS 02-01 allows. The OMDD unit brings discs and cards to the same tier: discs, payment and loyalty cards and floppy disks are reduced to 2 x 2 mm and kept apart in a container of their own, so media fragments never enter the paper bin.

According to HSM's published data for this article, HSM's P40i L6 OMDD Combi configuration is named on the NSA/CSS paper shredder EPL issued July 2025. EPL editions change and approval follows the exact model designation, so have your security officer check the current list before purchasing for classified work.

Operating a P-7 machine of this size

Most P-7 shredders are small deskside units; this one has a departmental throat, bin and motor. Even so, 9 sheets per pass is the hard limit at this cut, and HSM lists only paper for the paper head, so staples and clips must be removed first. The control system catches an overthick stack as it enters, and the automatic oiler keeps the heavily worked rollers lubricated. Operation is through a multi-language 4.3-inch touch display.

Plan consumables with the order: none ship with the machine. The paper bin takes HSM's reusable collecting bag or the P36i/P40i cardboard disposal box, and the oiler is refilled with HSM cutting block special oil.

Who the HSM1884M suits

It fits a secure facility that needs P-7 paper and O-6 media from a single machine with room for a whole office's output. It does not fit ordinary commercial confidentiality: 9 sheets per pass will slow a department that P-4 would serve perfectly well, and HSM's lifetime roller warranty does not apply at P-7.
