The fully equipped P40i: 1 x 5 mm paper destruction at security level P-7, metal detection guarding the cutting head, and a separate OMDD unit that reduces optical media and payment cards to 2 x 2 mm in their own container. The plain 1 x 5 mm P40i takes paper and nothing else; this one addresses both weaknesses of that configuration — the media gap and the risk of a stray staple reaching a P-7 head.

What's in the Box

The document shredder arrives assembled on its wheeled cabinet with the reusable collection insert fitted in the 145-litre bin, mains lead and manual. The separate media cutting unit is a free-standing unit with its own waste container. Disposable plastic sacks are not supplied; the replacement reusable insert for the main bin is part HSM1850BOX.

Who Should Buy This — and Who Should Not

Buy this where P-7 paper and classified optical media arrive at the same counter from people who did not prepare them — a central secure destruction point in a defence contractor, a government office, a research facility. The metal detection is what makes that workable: a P-7 head cannot take staples, and the cost of replacing one after a stray fastening dwarfs the price difference against the plain 1884121.

If a single trained operator prepares every document, you are paying for a safety net you will not use, and article 1884121 gives the identical P-7 paper result. If your specification actually names the NSA/CSS Evaluated Products List, read the FAQ below carefully before ordering — the January 2026 list names "Securio P40i (L6) Combi" and "Securio P36i (L6) OMDD Combo", and only the second maps unambiguously to a product we sell (article 1854123S).
