The HSM SECURIO P36i 1853121C combines a P-4 cross-cut paper shredder, cutting 3/16 x 1 1/8 in (4.5 x 30 mm) particles at 27-29 sheets per pass, with a free-standing second cutter that turns CDs, DVDs, credit and loyalty cards and floppy disks into 4 x 7 mm pieces. Each unit has its own waste container, so plastic never mixes with paper. It is aimed at departments whose retention policy covers both printed records and data media.

Why the media get a cutter of their own

Discs and plastic cards are hard and brittle. Run them through a paper head and they dull the edges that give a P-4 machine its capacity. On the 1853121C they never touch the paper rollers: they go into the side unit, come out at 4 x 7 mm and drop into a small dedicated container. That keeps the 145-liter paper stream clean enough for recycling and keeps the media waste easy to bag separately.
