HSM SECURIO C14 1/8 Inch Strip Cut Document Shredder - HSM2250

The HSM SECURIO C14 HSM2250 is a compact personal shredder that cuts 3.9 mm strips at 10-12 sheets per pass, rated P-2 under DIN 66399. Of the two C14 versions it is the faster, lower-security one, intended for a single user who needs to dispose of a steady flow of routine internal paper at the desk.

Strip cut versus cross cut on the C14

Both C14 models share the same 160 W motor, opening and container. The strip head only slices lengthwise, so it clears 10-12 sheets where the 4 x 25 mm version manages five or six. The cost is security: 3.9 mm strips can keep a line of text intact, which is why P-2 is meant for drafts, duplicate printouts and internal notes, not for customer files, medical paperwork or anything a data-protection review would cover. A note on sizing: HSM's US listing calls this a 1/8 in strip, but 3.9 mm is closer to 5/32 in.

Using the HSM2250 at a desk

At 14.41 in wide and 15.94 in tall the C14 slips beside a desk or under a return. A light barrier starts the cutters when paper is inserted and stops them afterwards, and a reverse function backs out an overfed stack. Staples, paper clips and credit or chip cards are approved, so documents can go in as they are; remove binder clips and heavier hardware. A safety element covers the feed opening, EcoSmart standby draws 0.1 W, and idle noise is about 55-60 dB(A). Strip waste is bulky, so expect to empty the 5.3 gal container more often than a cross-cut model of the same size.

Is the HSM2250 the right C14?

Choose it for one person shredding ordinary paperwork who values speed over particle size. If the paper carries personal or financial details, the HSM2253 is the C14 to buy. If several people will share the machine, a C-series personal shredder is the wrong class; look at the B-series cabinets.
