The HSM SECURIO B35 1/32 x 3/16 with external automatic oiler is the top-security configuration of HSM's 400 mm cabinet: a P-7 micro cut that reduces paper to 1/32 x 3/16 in (1 x 5 mm) particles, five sheets at a time. The factory-fitted oiler keeps that very fine head lubricated, so it suits a shared secure area whose policy explicitly calls for P-7.

Living with a paper-only P-7 head

At 1 x 5 mm the cutters do far more work per page than any other B35, and HSM restricts this head to paper. Staples, clips, cards and discs are all excluded, so documents have to be de-stapled before they reach the machine. In a busy secure room that preparation often takes longer than the shredding, and it is worth building into the workflow from day one. The fine particles pack densely, which is why the 130-liter container holds about 2,340 sheets here, more than any coarser B35 cut.

Why the oiler earns its place on this model

A dry P-7 head loses its five-sheet rating quickly and starts to stall. The external oiler doses HSM cutting-block oil onto the rollers during operation, so lubrication no longer depends on someone remembering it. You still refill the reservoir, and the unit adds about 50 mm to the cabinet width. One thing the oiler does not change: HSM's lifetime cutting-roller warranty applies only to P-2 through P-5 models, so this P-7 machine sits outside it. Factor that into a long-term cost comparison.

A note on NSA requirements
