HSM SECURIO B35 - 1/32 x 3/16 Cross Cut Document Shredder

The HSM SECURIO B35 1/32 x 3/16 is a P-7 micro-cut shredder that reduces paper to 1 x 5 mm particles and takes five sheets per pass through a wide 15.75 in (400 mm) throat. It is the highest-security model in the B35 range, with a 130-liter bin that holds about 2,340 shredded sheets, and is meant for organizations whose classification policy explicitly calls for DIN 66399 P-7.

Why choose the B35 chassis for P-7

HSM also offers this exact 1 x 5 mm cut on the B34, which has a 310 mm throat. The B35's 400 mm opening is the reason to step up: legal and 11 x 17 in tabloid go in unfolded, along with wide continuous stationery, without trimming or folding. Folding sensitive paper to make it fit doubles its thickness and eats into a five-sheet allowance quickly, so a wider throat matters more at P-7 than at any other level. The 130-liter bin adds to that; since the output is so fine, about 2,340 sheets fit before emptying.

The real costs of P-7

Every choice here follows from the particle size. Five sheets per pass is the ceiling, and the head is approved for paper only, so staples, clips, credit cards and discs must be kept out. In a busy department, removing staples can take longer than the shredding. HSM's lifetime cutting-roller warranty covers P-2 to P-5, so this model falls outside it. Fine heads also need regular lubrication with HSM cutting-block oil. The machine is built for continuous operation and idles at about 56 dB(A).

Should you buy the B35 P-7?

Buy it only when a written policy requires P-7, or F-3 for film, and you need room for wide or oversized documents. Many buyers who think they need P-7 are well served by P-5, which runs about three times faster. A P-7 rating is not NSA approval, and no Evaluated Products List entry has been verified for this model.
