The HSM SECURIO B34 3/16 x 1 1/8 (HSM1843) is a P-4 cross-cut shredder for large offices, cutting paper into 4.5 x 30 mm particles at 20 to 22 sheets per pass. With a 700 W drive and a 100-liter bin that holds around 1,223 shredded sheets, it is the B34 configuration that most departments handling everyday personal data will need.

The B34 P-4 compared with the strip-cut B34

On the same cabinet, the strip-cut versions push more paper per pass, but they stop at P-2. Switching to this cross-cut head lowers capacity to 20-22 sheets and adds weight: the machine carries about 7.5 kg more than the strip models, almost all of it in the heavier cutting block. That heavier block is also why the P-4 head accepts more than paper. It carries an O-3 rating for optical media and T-4 for cards, so one machine covers paper files, stapled sets, old bank cards and archive discs.

Departmental capacity and upkeep

Particles pack far denser than strips, so the 100-liter bin holds roughly 1,223 sheets, which in most offices means emptying once a week rather than every day. Idle noise is about 56 dB(A). Like any particle-cut head, it runs better with regular lubrication using HSM cutting-block oil. If the machine sits in a shared area with no named owner, the factory-oiled version (HSM18434) takes care of it.

No bags are included. HSM's reusable collection bags for this chassis come in packs of 10 or 100 (1410995000 / 1410995100), and a cardboard box sized for the B34 is also available.
