HSM SECURIO B32 3/16 x 1 1/8 with External Automatic Oiler - HSM18234

The HSM SECURIO B32 3/16 x 1 1/8 with External Automatic Oiler (HSM18234) is a P-4 cross-cut office shredder that comes from the factory with an oiler mounted on the cabinet, so the cutting rollers are lubricated without anyone having to remember. It cuts 4.5 x 30 mm particles, takes 14 to 16 sheets of 80 g/m² paper per pass and is aimed at shared machines where maintenance tends to slip.

Why an oiler matters on a cross-cut head

A particle-cutting head runs with more friction than a strip cutter. Left dry, it cuts less cleanly and works the motor harder, and on a machine used by a whole floor the oiling job usually belongs to nobody. The oiler on this B32 takes care of that automatically from a bottle that has to be refilled. Keep HSM shredder oil in stock and check whether a filled bottle arrives with your unit, since HSM's documents do not say. Use HSM's own oil rather than a general-purpose lubricant.

The trade-off is space. The oiler sits on the side and brings the cabinet to 547 mm (21.5 in) wide, against 497 mm on the plain B32. Depth and height do not change, so the only measurement to recheck is the width of the alcove.

Where P-4 sits for your documents

At 135 mm² per particle, this machine meets the level that most internal privacy policies name for HR files, client correspondence and invoices. Higher levels shrink the particle sharply: P-5 allows only 30 mm² and P-6 just 10 mm². If your written standard asks for one of those, this is not the model. On the plus side, the B32 P-4 head handles staples and paper clips, credit cards and CDs or DVDs, which the finer heads do not all accept.

Is this the right B32 for you?

Choose it when a data-protection policy names P-4 and the shredder lives in a copy room used by many people. Look elsewhere if one careful person will maintain the machine, if the space is too tight for an extra 50 mm, or if your paper needs P-5 or finer.
