HSM SECURIO B32 1/32 x 7/16 Cross Cut Document Shredder - HSM1825

The 0.78 x 11 mm SECURIO B32 is the practical high-security choice in this family. Its particle measures 8.58 mm2, which puts it at DIN 66399 P-6 - inside the 10 mm2 ceiling and, just as importantly, inside the 1 mm width limit that separates P-6 from P-5. It takes six sheets of 80 g/m2 paper at a time, half again what the P-7 version manages, and unlike the P-7 machine it is rated to handle staples and paper clips.

• 0.78 x 11 mm particle at P-6. This cut is routinely mislabelled as P-5 by resellers. It is not: at 8.58 mm2 and 0.78 mm wide it clears both P-6 thresholds. P-5 would be a coarser result, such as HSM's 1.9 x 15 mm cut.
• Rated for staples and paper clips. Unusually for a micro-cut machine, HSM lists fasteners as acceptable on this model. That removes the de-stapling step that makes most high-security shredding tedious.
• Six sheets per pass. Not fast, but half again the P-7 version's four, which is a meaningful difference across a working day.
• Standard B32 cabinet. 310 mm throat, 82-litre pull-out container rated at roughly 818 shredded sheets at this cut, 610 W motor, approximately 56 dB(A) at idle.
• Light barrier and EcoSmart control. Automatic start and stop on paper entry, and 0.1 W standby draw between jobs.
• Offered with a factory-fitted automatic oiler. Article 1825113O is the identical machine with HSM's external oiler mounted, for sites where manual lubrication will not happen reliably.

What's in the Box

The HSM SECURIO B32 arrives assembled: the cutting head and cabinet are a single unit, with the 82 l (21.7 gal) waste container in place behind the cabinet door, plus the mains lead and the HSM operating manual. There is no oiler on this article — lubrication, where required, is a manual task.

Shredder bags and HSM's fitting cardboard waste box are consumables and are not included — order them with the machine if you do not intend to empty the container loose. This cut requires regular lubrication, and HSM shredder oil is sold separately.

Who Should Buy This — and Who Should Not

This suits an organisation whose policy calls for high-security destruction of real day-to-day volume - legal files, medical records, HR case files, financial statements - where P-4 is not defensible but the paperwork still arrives stapled and in quantity. P-6 is a serious level: 8.58 mm2 particles are not reconstructable by any practical means short of a laboratory.

Do not buy it if your requirement is specifically P-7 or a 1 x 5 mm residue. P-6 will not satisfy that wording, and no amount of arguing about particle area will change it - the 1 x 5 mm B32 is the model you need. Equally, do not buy it as a shared departmental shredder for general paper: at six sheets a pass, a team clearing filing cabinets will find it painfully slow, and the P-4 cross-cut B32 handles 14 to 16 sheets. Note too that HSM's lifetime cutting-roller warranty stops at P-5, so it does not cover this machine.
