HSM SECURIO B24 - 1/8" Strip Cut Document Shreder- HSM1780

The HSM SECURIO B24 in 1/8 in (3.9 mm) strip cut, part HSM1780, is a compact office shredder that slices paper into full-length ribbons at DIN 66399 level P-2 and takes 19-21 sheets per pass through a 9.45 in (240 mm) throat. It is meant for departments that throw away a lot of low-sensitivity paper, such as drafts, printouts, meeting packs and picking lists, and want it cleared quickly. It is not the right tool for anything that names a person.

What a P-2 strip actually protects

DIN 66399 lets a P-2 particle be as large as 800 mm², and a 3.9 mm strip that runs the length of the page sits inside that limit. In plain terms, P-2 stops casual reading of discarded paper; it does not stop a patient person from laying strips side by side. That makes it a sensible level for internal material whose loss would be a nuisance, not a breach. Payroll, patient notes, client files and anything under a data protection duty belong on a finer cut, and HSM builds this same cabinet at 4.5 x 30 mm (P-4) and 1.9 x 15 mm (P-5) for exactly that reason.

Running the 3.9 mm B24 day to day

A light barrier spins the induction-hardened rollers only while paper is in the throat, so the cabinet is silent between jobs and idles at about 54 dB(A). When someone overfeeds, the overload-protected feed reverses the stack out instead of stalling. EcoSmart standby draws 0.1 W, which means the machine can stay switched on at the wall all week.

Letter and legal sheets go in short edge first with room to spare; 11 x 17 tabloid will not fit unfolded. The 35.05 lb cabinet sits on castors, and the bin has an inspection window, so the fill level is visible without pulling the drawer. Because loose strips do not compact, expect the container to fill after roughly 306 sheets. The machine carries Blue Angel certification. Bags are bought separately; HSM's 13-gallon tear-resistant roll of 100 (part 3310000014) is the matching liner.

It suits print rooms, project offices, school administration and warehouse desks where paper is plentiful and dull, and where the lowest price in the B24 range matters. Look elsewhere if the documents identify people, if you shred discs whose contents matter (a strip on optical media is low security), or if a large group will share it all day, because the 9.2 gal bin will need emptying long before the motor tires.
