The HSM SECURIO B22 1/8 x 1 1/8 (model 1833) is a compact P-4 cross-cut shredder that turns paper into 3.9 x 30 mm particles at 9-11 sheets per pass. Why P-4 is the balanced choice on the B22 chassis

The four B22 heads trade speed against security. The strip-cut versions are quicker, but P-2 strips can be reassembled and are not accepted for personal data. The P-5 micro-cut is finer but drops to 7-9 sheets. This cross-cut head sits between them: a 117 mm² particle, inside the P-4 ceiling of 160 mm², at 9-11 sheets, enough to put a stapled ten-page report through in one pass. Cross-cut particles also settle more densely than strips, so the same 33-liter bin holds roughly 435 sheets of waste.

What it shreds and how to keep it running

The solid steel, induction-hardened rollers take staples and paper clips, and the T-4 rating covers bank and ID cards fed one at a time through the middle of the 9.45 in (240 mm) throat. CDs and DVDs are not covered. Automatic start-stop and an overload-protected feed cut down on jams. Cross-cut heads gather paper dust, so oil them with HSM cutting-block special oil, sold separately, whenever you empty the bin, and a little more often if you shred lots of window envelopes. B22 P-4 or a neighboring model?

• B22 1/16 x 5/8 (P-5): same cabinet and motor, 1.9 x 15 mm particles at 7-9 sheets, for policies that name P-5.
• B22 1/4 in strip (P-2): 17-19 sheets and the only B22 that takes discs, but not suitable for personal data.
