HSM SECURIO AF350 1/32 x 7/16 AutoFeed Document Shredder

The HSM SECURIO AF350 1/32 x 7/16 is HSM's highest-security compact autofeed shredder, cutting paper to P-6 particles of 0.78 x 11 mm from a 350-sheet tray. Its manual slot takes only 6 sheets per pass, so this machine depends on the tray to keep a P-6 workload moving. It is meant for organizations whose clients or regulators specify P-6 and who shred too much to feed a few pages at a time.

One tray, one bag: planning a P-6 purge

HSM's own figures line up neatly here. The tray holds 350 sheets and the 35-liter bin is rated for roughly 350 sheets of P-6 waste, so every full load ends with a bag change. Keep a supply of HSM bags (part 1661995050, packs of 100, 530 x 340 x 1000 mm) next to the machine; the same bag fits the B22, B24, AF150 and AF300, which simplifies ordering for a mixed fleet. The upside is that nobody needs to be at the machine while it works through the stack.

Handling a 0.78 mm cutting head

The fine teeth on this head deal with stapled and clipped paper, but the sheet separator in the tray is the part that struggles with a thick staple, so send bound bundles through the manual slot. Fan each stack and keep it to one paper size. Remove plastic sleeves and covers, since the machine is rated for paper and film only and has no card or disc class. Micro-cut dust accumulates quickly, and with no automatic oiler fitted, the person who changes bags should also oil the rollers with HSM shredder oil.

The cabinet stands 32.95 in tall and 17.13 in deep, draws 610 W from a standard 110-120 V outlet and idles at about 56 dB(A), quiet enough for an occupied office.

• AF350 1/16 x 5/8: P-5 with 8-10 sheets by hand, credit card capability and the lifetime roller warranty.
• AF500 1/32 x 7/16: P-6 with a 21.7-gallon (82 l) bin, for volumes that would otherwise mean constant bag changes.

When the AF350 P-6 is the right call

Choose it for legal discovery, research files, pre-release commercial documents or cleared project work where P-6 is mandatory and loads are large. Do not choose it simply because P-6 sounds safer: for ordinary personal data the P-5 model is faster, takes cards, keeps the roller warranty and needs fewer bag changes.
