HSM SECURIO AF350 - 1/16" x 5/8" AutoFeed Document Shredder

The SECURIO AF350 is the largest of HSM's compact autofeed shredders, and this is its P-5 configuration: a 1.9 x 15 mm particle cut behind a 350-sheet automatic tray. The distinguishing feature is the tray, not the bin - the AF350 stands in a taller, deeper cabinet than the AF300 but keeps the same 9.2-gallon waste bin. It takes 8 to 10 sheets through the manual slot and runs at about 56 dB(A) at idle, so it is quiet enough to live in an occupied office.

What's in the Box

The shredder ships assembled on its cabinet with the 9.2-gallon pull-out bin, power cord and operating instructions. Shredder bags are not included. HSM lists part 1661995050 (530 x 340 x 1000 mm, 100 bags per pack) for this chassis; the same bag also fits the SECURIO B22 and B24. Shredder oil is a separate consumable.

Footprint and Placement

The AF350 cabinet is 15.55 inches wide, 17.13 inches deep and 32.95 inches tall - noticeably deeper and taller than the AF300's 15 by 29.13 inches, because the larger tray has to sit somewhere. Measure before ordering if the machine is going under a worktop; the extra height is the dimension that catches people out. Weight is 42 lb, so it can be repositioned by one person but is not something to lift onto a surface.

Everything else is undemanding. The 610 W motor runs from a standard outlet, idle noise is around 56 dB(A), and the only recurring tasks are changing HSM bag 1661995050 and oiling the cutting rollers manually with HSM shredder oil. At P-5 the oiling interval matters more than it would on a coarser machine, because fine dust is what gradually takes a ten-sheet pass down to eight.

Who Should Buy This - and Who Should Not

Buy it if you want the biggest possible unattended load at P-5 in a machine that still fits beside a desk. A 350-sheet tray covers most of a ream, which suits an office that does its shredding in one weekly sitting rather than continuously.

Understand the limitation before you order: the bin is the same 35 litres as the AF150 and AF300, so a full tray will very nearly fill it and you will be emptying after roughly every load. If shredding is continuous, the SECURIO AF300 1/16" x 5/8" gives an identical cut and bin in a smaller cabinet for less money, and the SECURIO AF150 1/16" x 5/8" is better balanced still. If your paper is routine confidential material rather than regulated personal data, the SECURIO AF350 3/16" x 1 1/8" at P-4 takes 12-14 sheets by hand and also handles discs, which this model does not.
