HSM Pure 830 3/16 x 1 1/8 Cross Cut Document Shredder - HSM2383

The HSM Pure 830 3/16 x 1 1/8 (HSM2383) is a departmental P-4 cross-cut shredder that pairs 3/16 x 1 1/8 in (4.5 x 30 mm) particles with a stack size of 33-35 sheets per pass, powered by a 1,920 W motor. It feeds through a 13.0 in (330 mm) opening into a 39.6-gallon (150-liter) cabinet and also accepts credit cards and CDs/DVDs. It is meant for a department that has standardized on P-4 and needs faster throughput than the 700 W Pure models offer.

The Pure 630 and Pure 740 cut the same 4.5 x 30 mm particle but stop at 20-22 sheets on 700 W. The 830's 1,920 W drive raises that to 33-35, so someone clearing a full drawer of files spends noticeably less time at the machine. Automatic start and stop, standby, overload protection that reverses a jammed stack and a full-bin cut-out are all standard, and a wide cabinet door makes bag changes easier.

What P-4 covers on this machine

DIN 66399 allows up to 160 mm² per particle at P-4; this head produces 135 mm². That is a common standard for staff records, invoices and client correspondence. The media ratings let the same machine take credit cards, optical discs, film and magnetic carriers, which saves a second device in many offices. Feed discs and cards individually.

Planning for power, noise and oiling

At 120 V the motor draws about 16 A, so plan a dedicated circuit before delivery. Idle noise is about 60 dB(A), louder than the 55-56 dB(A) of smaller Pure models, which points to a copy room or utility space. The 830 has no automatic oiler option, so assign someone to oil the rollers regularly. Bags are not included.

Who the Pure 830 P-4 is for

Choose it as the central shredder for a busy department where P-4 is sufficient and queues at a 700 W machine have become a nuisance. Look elsewhere if you cannot supply a dedicated circuit, if the machine must sit near quiet desks, if oversized paper is routine (the 400 mm Pure 740 or Pure 940 suit that better), or if your policy requires P-5.
