HSM Pure 740 max 3/16 x 1 1/8 with External Automatic Oiler - HSM2373M

The HSM Pure 740 max 3/16 x 1 1/8 (HSM2373M) is a high-capacity P-4 cross-cut shredder: it cuts 3/16 x 1 1/8 in (4.5 x 30 mm) particles, takes 20-22 sheets per pass through a 15.75 in (400 mm) opening and drops them into a 63.4-gallon (240-liter) bin rated for about 2,950 shredded sheets. An external automatic oiler and a particle distributor come fitted. It is built for an office that has settled on P-4 and mainly wants a shared shredder that needs as little attention as possible.

Fewer bag changes is the whole point

Compared with the standard Pure 740, this cabinet adds about two thirds more bin volume (240 liters against 145) and lifts the rated collection from roughly 1,860 to about 2,950 sheets. The distributor spreads the particles across the full width of the bag, so the space at the edges and corners is actually used before the full-bin sensor stops the cutters. Add the automatic oiler and the routine tasks on a shared machine shrink to changing a bag now and then and topping up the oil reservoir.

P-4 particles for everyday confidential paper

At 135 mm² the particle sits comfortably under the 160 mm² that DIN 66399 permits at P-4, a common baseline for HR paperwork, invoices and customer correspondence. Staples and paper clips can stay in. Unlike the standard Pure 740 chassis, HSM lists only paper, staples and paper clips for the max, so plan a separate route for cards, discs and other media.

Space, weight and setup

The steel-reinforced cabinet rolls on castors but weighs 168 lb and stands 53.0 in tall and 30.9 in deep, so it belongs in a copy room or corridor bay rather than beside a desk. Waste bags are not supplied and must suit the 240-liter bin; order HSM shredder oil along with the machine.

Is the 740 max P-4 the right fit?

It is a good match for a large shared office where P-4 is the agreed standard and the irritation is how often the bag fills, not how many sheets go in at once. It is more cabinet than a small team needs, and it is the wrong pick if discs or cards must be destroyed on the same machine or if your records policy specifies P-5.
