HSM Pure 740 3/16 x 1 1/8 with External Automatic Oiler - HSM23734

The HSM Pure 740 with External Automatic Oiler (HSM23734) is a P-4 cross-cut floor shredder that cuts paper into 3/16 x 1 1/8 in (4.5 x 30 mm) particles, takes 21-22 sheets per pass through a 15.75 in (400 mm) opening and collects waste in a 38.3-gallon (145-liter) cabinet. It is the standard Pure 740 with one addition: an oil reservoir and pump mounted outside the cabinet that lubricate the cutting rollers without anyone stepping in. It is aimed at departments where many people use the shredder and nobody is formally responsible for its upkeep.

What the external oiler changes on a shared Pure 740

A cross-cut head depends on regular lubrication to keep its rated stack size; when oiling slips, the first sign is a machine that starts stalling on stacks it used to handle. On a communal shredder, manual oiling is the step that gets skipped. Here the pump doses the rollers itself, so the only job left is refilling a reservoir that sits on the outside of the cabinet, which can be checked at a glance whenever the bag is changed.

Nothing else is altered. The cutting head, motor, bin and classification are those of the plain Pure 740 4.5 x 30 mm, so you are paying for consistency over the years rather than for extra capacity on day one.

Security, materials and feed width

Each particle covers 135 mm², under the 160 mm² that DIN 66399 allows at P-4. That suits personnel files, customer correspondence and financial paperwork. Beyond paper, HSM rates this head for credit cards and CDs/DVDs, and staples and paper clips do not have to be removed first. The 400 mm opening takes ledger and A3 sheets portrait without folding.

Waste bags are not supplied. HSM's 58-gallon clear bag roll is listed for the Pure 740, and ordering oil with the machine means the reservoir is full from the first day.

Who this version suits

It fits a department that shares one P-4 machine, feeds mixed or oversized paper and wants the rated stack size to hold up without a maintenance rota. If a single owner already oils the shredder reliably, the standard Pure 740 does the same work for less. If your policy calls for P-5, look at the Pure 740 max or Pure 830 in 1.9 x 15 mm instead.
