HSM Pure 740 3/16 x 1 1/8 Cross Cut Document Shredder - HSM2373

The HSM Pure 740 cross cut is a departmental floor shredder that produces 4.5 x 30 mm particles at DIN 66399 P-4 and takes 21-22 sheets per pass through a 15.75 in (400 mm) feed opening. Its 38.3-gallon (145-liter) bin holds about 1,860 shredded sheets, making it the P-4 Pure to choose when a large team handles confidential paper of mixed or wide formats.

Width as the deciding feature

Most of the Pure 740's specification matches its neighbors; the opening is what sets it apart. At 400 mm it accepts folded drawings, wide reports and continuous stationery that would not fit a 310 mm slot, and it lets a dozen users drop in rough handfuls without squaring them. That matters when the paper is confidential, because the people feeding it are also the ones who might otherwise leave a stack waiting. Each 135 mm² particle is within the 160 mm² P-4 limit, which covers HR, payroll, patient administration and client records.

Why 21-22 sheets is normal here

Turning a sheet into particles is much more work than slitting it into strips, so the strip-cut Pure 740 manages 35-37 sheets on the same 700 W motor while this one takes 21-22. The payoff is denser waste: the same 145-liter bin takes around 1,860 sheets here, roughly 70 percent more than the strip version. A sensor starts and stops the cutters, standby trims idle power, and the full-bin cut-out halts the machine before waste backs into the head. The cabinet door opens full width so the bag frame lifts straight out. The motor is built for continuous duty, not short bursts with long cool-downs.

No oiler is fitted to this version. Particle heads need oil at each bin change under normal use, so if that will not happen, the Pure 740 with external automatic oiler is the same machine with a pump installed.

It suits a department of ten or more that shreds to a P-4 standard and handles paper beyond letter size. If width does not matter, the Pure 630 cross cut saves money and floor space. If nobody will oil it, choose the oiler version. It is not NSA listed and does not meet P-5.
