The 420 cross cut removes that compromise. Its classification lists optical media (O-3), magnetic cards (T-4) and film (F-1) alongside P-4 paper, and the induction-hardened solid steel rollers accept staples and paper clips. How fine is 4.5 x 30 mm?

A 135 mm² particle sits inside the 160 mm² that DIN 66399 permits at P-4, though at the coarser end of the band; the Pure 320 cross cut makes a smaller 117 mm² piece. For most organizations P-4 is the level written into policies for payroll, patient administration, client files and financial records. If your policy sets a maximum particle dimension rather than a DIN class, check 4.5 x 30 mm against it.

Running it day to day

Particles pack densely, so the 35-liter container takes roughly 420 sheets, against about 245 on the strip-cut 420. The full-bin display halts the cutters before waste backs up, the overload-protected feed relieves pressure instead of stalling, and a sensor starts and stops the motor. The intake safety element stops the feed on contact, and standby trims idle power. Cross-cut heads stay at their rated capacity with periodic shredder oil, so buy a bottle alongside the machine.
