Is this an add-on module or a complete machine?
It is a complete horizontal channel baling press. HSM order number 6336133 specifies the HL 7009 press supplied with the hydraulic lifting and tilting system and wire mesh cart as its filling arrangement, rather than the bevelled hopper used on other HL 7009 variants. You are buying the press, not a retrofit kit for a press you already own.
How heavy are the bales, and how do I move them?
Bales measure 1100 x 1100 x 1200 mm and weigh up to 600 kg, about 1323 lb. That rules out manual handling entirely. You need a forklift or bale clamp rated well above 600 kg, and a bale storage area with the floor loading and turning space to match. Buyers frequently budget for the press and forget the handling equipment.
What materials can it bale?
HSM lists plastic film, mixed paper and cardboard for this machine. It is not specified for glass, metal, wet or contaminated waste, or aerosols. If your stream includes anything outside that list, discuss it with HSM or your dealer before ordering, because material type affects both bale integrity and wear on the ram and channel.
What consumable does it use?
Baling wire. Bales are wire-tied rather than strapped, so wire stock has to be held on site and factored into running cost. Wire gauge and length should be confirmed against HSM's specification for the HL 7009; using the wrong wire is a common cause of bales failing during handling.
What is the real throughput?
HSM quotes 1519 cft/h, roughly 43 m3/h, with a 47-second cycle time, both measured at idle. That figure describes how fast the press can cycle when it is not waiting for anything. Actual throughput is set by how quickly material reaches the machine and how fast carts can be swapped, and in most installations it is materially lower than the idle figure.
What does it need in terms of site services and space?
The machine is 5992 x 2066 x 2500 mm and weighs about 7396 kg, so it needs a level floor rated for that load, clearance for delivery and positioning, and clear working space around the lift-tilt side. The motor is rated 10.7 kW at 208 V / 60 Hz for the US configuration; confirm your available supply and phase with your dealer before ordering, since site electrical work is often the longest lead item.
How does this compare with the bevelled hopper version?
The bevelled hopper version is cheaper and simpler, and works well where material can be tipped in from a height or fed by conveyor. The lift-tilt wire mesh cart version costs more and adds hydraulics to maintain, but removes manual lifting from the loading cycle. Choose the hopper if your material already arrives at height; choose this one if operators are currently lifting material into the press by hand.
