HSM HL 7009 - Horizontal Baling Press - 10,5kW for Cardboard, Plastic Film, and Mixed Paper

The HSM HL 7009 is a horizontal channel baling press for cardboard, mixed paper and plastic film, applying 700 kN to produce wire-tied bales of 43.3 x 43.3 x 47.2 in (1100 x 1100 x 1200 mm) weighing up to 1,320 lb (600 kg). It is driven by a 9.2 kW main motor with a 1.5 kW secondary motor. It is built for distribution centers, retailers, print works and packaging converters whose packaging waste arrives all day, faster than a vertical baler and its operator can deal with.

Channel press versus vertical baler

With a vertical baler someone loads the chamber, starts the press and ties and ejects every bale by hand. A channel press like the HL 7009 is fed continuously and pushes completed bales out of the far end of the channel. That allows it to be fed by a conveyor, a bevelled hopper or a lifting and tilting unit, and HSM offers all of these, plus automatic variants, for this chassis. On sites where cardboard and film arrive in a steady stream, that cuts the labor tied to baling sharply.

Bale format and wire tying

A 600 kg bale of 1100 x 1100 x 1200 mm is dense enough that a truck fills by weight rather than volume, and it is a format paper mills commonly accept. Recycling contracts often specify bale size and weight, so check yours before ordering; the channel cannot be changed to another format later. Bales are tied with Quicklink wire of 2.45 x 4400 mm, which mills remove during pulping. Wire is a running cost and does not come with the press.

Paper, cardboard and film can all be baled on the one machine, although a clean single-material bale normally earns more than a mixed one.

A note on the drive rating

The product title quotes 10.5 kW. HSM's technical data gives a 9.2 kW main drive plus a 1.5 kW secondary motor, and those manufacturer figures are what an electrician should size the supply from. HSM publishes the press for a 3 x 400 V / 50 Hz supply; confirm the 60 Hz build for a US site. Overall dimensions vary with the hopper or filling option, so ask for the installation drawing for your configuration.

Who the HL 7009 suits

It suits sites where baling takes a meaningful part of someone's day, or where cardboard leaves loose because baling cannot keep up. It does not suit modest volumes: this is a 7,400 kg three-phase installation needing a prepared floor, a feed arrangement and space to take bales away. Order feed equipment with the press, since retrofitting it later is expensive.
