The HSM Crusher 1049 SA is a freestanding crusher that flattens PET drink bottles and aluminum or steel beverage cans, cutting their volume to about one third to one quarter of what they occupied loose. It processes up to 2,400 one-liter bottles an hour and drops the crushed material into a 76.6-gallon (290-liter) container that rolls out on its own. It is built for venues and facilities whose real cost is storing and hauling empty containers, not selling baled material.

How the 1049 SA earns its place at a collection point

Loose bottles are mostly air. When a hauler bills per container or per pickup, every bin of uncrushed PET is money spent moving empty space, and a full bottle store also eats floor area in back-of-house rooms. Running the bottles and cans through the 1049 SA before they go into the waste stream means fewer containers to fill, fewer collections and less handling, without changing how anything upstream works. Rollers, materials and what to keep out

The crushing rollers are made from specially hardened, ground steel. That matters because metal cans wear components quickly and PET resists deformation; roller hardness is what determines service life on mixed bottle-and-can duty. Feed it PET bottles and aluminum or steel beverage cans only. It is not meant for cardboard, film, general waste, glass, aerosols or anything pressurized.

1049 SA or the HSM CP 4988?

The deciding question is what leaves your site. The 1049 SA crushes into a bin; it does not compress or tie bales. The HSM CP 4988 combines crushing and baling, handles up to 4,000 bottles an hour on an 8.31 HP drive, and produces strapped bales of up to 100 kg. If your recycler pays for baled PET, the CP 4988 is the right tool; if you simply need less volume in storage and fewer pickups, the 1049 SA is the smaller, simpler machine.

Who should buy the Crusher 1049 SA

It suits any operation producing a steady flow of drink bottles and cans where storage space and collection fees are the problem: a mid-sized venue, a campus, a hotel or hospital catering department. Look elsewhere if you need saleable bales, or if most of your waste is cardboard or film, which belong in a baling press rather than a crusher.
