How much paper does it hold?
HSM rates it at 95 US gallons and up to 350 lb of paper — about 159 kg. The weight figure is the one that matters when you are deciding who empties it and how often, because flat-stacked confidential paper reaches the weight limit at roughly the same time it reaches the volume limit. Treat 350 lb as the point at which the cart becomes awkward to move on carpet, not just full.
Does it come with a padlock?
The hasp is moulded into the cart, but HSM's published specification does not list a padlock as supplied and we are not going to claim one is in the box. Budget for a standard shackle padlock, or better, key the cart into whatever padlock system your facilities team already runs so keys do not proliferate. Retailer listings vary on this point, which is exactly why it is worth confirming when you order.
Can someone reach inside and take documents out?
Not easily. The intake is a thin slot sized to pass sheets of paper and little else, and with the lid padlocked through the hasp the only route to the contents is through that slot. That is the standard level of protection for a pre-shred collection container: it defeats casual retrieval and opportunism, which is what most data-protection policies are actually written against. It is not a safe and should not be treated as one.
Can one person move this when it is full?
Not comfortably, and not safely on anything other than smooth hard floor. Three hundred and fifty pounds of paper on two wheels is a serious load. If the cart has to be moved by ordinary staff rather than by a facilities team or a contractor, buy a smaller cart and empty it more often. If you need a large container that is genuinely easy to push, look at the 175-gallon four-wheel cart (1070070100), which runs on six-inch braked rubber wheels.
Will it fit through a standard doorway?
The body is 26.5 inches wide and 33.8 inches deep, so it clears a standard 32-inch door leading with the narrow face. What catches people out is the 44-inch height under low lift ceilings and the 33.8-inch depth on a tight corner. Measure the actual route, not just the doorway, before you commit to the largest cart in the range.
