The MBM DSH0501L is the Destroyit 4005 with a 3/16 x 1 1/2 in (4 x 40 mm) cross-cut head: a P-4 shredder under DIN 66399 that takes 37-39 sheets of 70 gsm paper per pass. A 2.12 hp motor, a 16-inch throat and a 44-gallon bin make it a floor-standing departmental machine meant to serve many users from one location. It offers the highest P-4 stack in MBM's 115 V Destroyit office line.

Why the 4005 chassis matters for a busy floor

The 4005 shares its particle size with the lighter 4003 P-4, so the reason to pay for it is the drivetrain. Moving from 1.75 hp to 2.12 hp lifts the stack by a few sheets and puts considerably more machine behind each pass; the 4005 itself ships at 378 lb. That mass and torque are what you want when a queue forms at the end of the day.

Users never touch a switch during a run: a photocell starts and stops the cutters, and an overload backs the paper out automatically. A safety flap covers the throat, magnetic door protection halts the drive if the cabinet is opened, and the motor has thermal overload protection. Cross-cut Destroyit models inject oil automatically, so day-to-day lubrication looks after itself.

What the P-4 rating covers

A 4 x 40 mm particle sits right on the 160 mm² ceiling that DIN 66399 sets for P-4. That is the level most privacy programs and client agreements settle on for personnel files, customer correspondence and financial records. It does not satisfy a requirement written as P-5 or P-7. Because MBM clears its P-4 heads for common optical media, the 4005 P-4 can also take care of a stack of old backup discs.

MBM's sheet figures are measured on 70 gsm paper, and the company itself warns that real throughput can be half the theoretical rate. US 20 lb bond is a little heavier, so plan around the lower part of the range.
