MBM DSH0500L 4005 strip-cut 1/4" (6 mm)

The Destroyit 4005 strip-cut is the fastest machine in MBM's office range and the least secure. It cuts 6 mm strips at DIN 66399 P-2 and swallows 50 to 52 sheets in a pass - roughly double what the P-5 version of the same chassis manages. Buy it when the job is bulk paper reduction with a modest confidentiality requirement, and be honest with yourself that P-2 is not a data-protection grade. Mechanically it is the same 4005 as the cross-cut versions - the same 2.12 hp drive, the same 16-inch throat, the same 44-gallon bin - fitted with the most tolerant cutting head MBM builds.

Specifications

MBM quotes sheet capacity at 70 gsm paper on its published spec sheet and prints an explicit caveat alongside it: "realistic throughputs can be as low as half that of the theoretical capacities quoted." US 20 lb bond is roughly 75 gsm and slightly heavier, so plan around the lower end of the range, not the headline number.

What's in the Box

Supplied assembled on castors with the pull-out shred bin, operating manual and power cord. Disposable bags are not included; the bin can be run bare or lined. Confirm the current liner part number for the 4005 bin with your dealer before ordering, as MBM does not print it on the model spec sheet.

Who Should Buy This - and Who Should Not

Buy it for volume: print rooms clearing misprints, warehouses destroying picking lists, schools and clubs emptying filing cabinets of non-sensitive administrative paper, or any operation where the point is to reduce paper for recycling and confidentiality is a secondary concern. At 50-plus sheets a pass it will clear a banker's box far faster than any cross-cut in this price class, and the strip-cut shafts are the most tolerant in the range.

Do not buy it if you handle personal data. DIN P-2 permits particles up to 800 mm², and a 6 mm strip leaves whole lines of text intact and reconstructable. Most privacy programmes and most client contracts land on P-4 as the floor; for that, take the DSH0501L, which is the same chassis with a 4 x 40 mm cross cut and still manages 37-39 sheets. If your requirement is P-5, the DSH0502L is the one to look at. And if you need this throughput on a continuous basis rather than in bursts, the conveyor-fed 4108 strip-cut (DSH0345) does 75-95 sheets on three-phase power.
