MBM DSH0394 4003 strip-cut 1/4" (6 mm)

The MBM DSH0394 is the strip-cut Destroyit 4003, slicing paper into 1/4 in (6 mm) strips at 43-45 sheets of 70 gsm per pass through a 16 in opening. A 1.75 HP continuous-duty motor drives it, and waste falls into a 44-gallon bin. With a P-2 security rating, it is built for bulk disposal of non-sensitive paper such as print overruns, superseded catalogs and archive clear-outs.

Fast, but only for the right paper

A strip cutter makes far fewer cuts per sheet than a cross cutter, which is why this 4003 takes more than twice the stack of the P-5 version in the same cabinet. The trade-off is security. Each 6 mm strip runs the full length of the page, so lines of text can survive, and P-2 permits pieces up to 2000 mm². DIN 66399 positions it for internal material whose disclosure would be inconvenient, not harmful. Records holding names, health details, account numbers or client information belong on a P-4 or higher head.

Practical points for heavy use

MBM notes that real-world throughput can fall to about half the rated figure depending on paper condition and how it is fed. Even so, the bin usually becomes the limit before the cutters do: long strips tangle and trap air, so 44 gallons fills noticeably faster than with cross-cut waste. Pressing the waste down when emptying helps. MBM fits automatic oilers only to the cross-cut and super micro-cut 4003 models; strip shafts run without routine oiling. The hardened shafts are made at MBM's Balingen factory and carry a lifetime warranty. Controls match the rest of the 4003 range: ECC capacity display, automatic reverse, safety shield and bin-full stop.
