Authorized MBM Destroyit dealer New stock through the manufacturer's authorized channel, with the manufacturer's own warranty · what this covers

Description

At 37 to 39 sheets per pass, the DSH0369L is the highest-throughput machine in this Destroyit group. It pairs the 3105’s 2.125 HP motor with a 4 x 40 mm cross-cut, giving DIN 66399 level P-4 security at a feed rate that most P-4 office machines cannot approach — the 3104 in the same cut manages 22 to 25, the 4001 25 to 28. If your problem is a genuinely large daily paper load that still has to be destroyed to a documented standard, this is the configuration that stops the shredder being the queue. It also takes CDs and DVDs, which the P-5 version of the same machine does not.

Key Features

  • 37 to 39 sheets at P-4 — The highest rated capacity in this Destroyit selection, measured on 70 gsm paper.
  • 2.125 HP continuous-duty motor — Sized for sustained daily use rather than intermittent departmental shredding.
  • Optical media capable — MBM confirms 4 x 40 mm cross-cut models for the most common CDs and DVDs, plus staples, paper clips and credit cards.
  • Automatic oiler — Continuous automatic lubrication of the cutting shafts; oil is ordered separately.
  • Photo cell start/stop — The cutters start when paper is presented and stop when the feed clears, which suits a machine used by many people.
  • 37-gallon bin on a caster-mounted cabinet — Sized to match the throughput so bin emptying does not become the new bottleneck.
  • Lifetime cutting shaft warranty — Hardened steel shafts, milled at MBM’s Balingen plant, warranted for the life of the machine.

What’s in the Box

  • Destroyit 3105 P-4 cross-cut shredder in wooden cabinet on casters
  • Operating manual

Oil for the automatic oiler is not included; it is supplied separately in six-quart bottles. Shred bags are not included or required — the bin empties directly, and AC0901 bags fit if needed.

Who Should Buy This — and Who Should Not

Buy this if paper volume is the constraint and P-4 meets your obligations. Central mailrooms, records archives being wound down, insurance and claims operations, and any site where several people queue at a shredder will get the most from it. The 12-inch throat handles everything up to tabloid, and CD/DVD capability removes the need for a second machine for optical media.

Do not buy this if your policy names P-5 or micro-cut — the DSH0368L is the same machine at 2 x 15 mm and 24 to 26 sheets, and no amount of throughput compensates for the wrong security level. Do not buy it for a small office either: at roughly 324 lb, 40 inches tall and requiring a dedicated 20 amp circuit, it is disproportionate to a team of five, who would be better served by the 3104 or the 4001. And confirm your electrical supply before ordering; retrofitting a dedicated line after delivery is the most common cause of delay on this model.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many people can share this shredder?

Realistically a whole floor. At 37 to 39 sheets per pass on a continuous-duty 2.125 HP motor with a 37-gallon bin, the machine is rarely the limiting factor for a department of fifty or more doing normal volumes. The practical constraint tends to be walking distance and bin emptying rather than cutter throughput.

Can it shred CDs, DVDs and credit cards?

Yes. MBM specifies the 4 x 40 mm cross-cut models for the most common CDs and DVDs, and the hardened shafts also take staples, paper clips and credit cards. Feed discs individually. If you later switch this machine to a finer cut, be aware the P-5 configuration loses optical media capability.

Is P-4 enough, or should we specify the P-5 version?

P-4 at 160 mm² is the level most US organisations use for personnel, medical and financial records, and it is normally sufficient unless something in writing says otherwise. Move to the DSH0368L at P-5 when a client contract, agency requirement or internal risk assessment names that level. Do not pay the throughput penalty of P-5 speculatively — check the wording that binds you first.

What is the duty cycle before it needs to cool down?

MBM rates the single-phase motor for continuous operation, so there is no published cool-down interval for ordinary office use. The machine also carries thermal protection that will cut power if it is genuinely overworked. In practice, jams caused by overfeeding are far more common than thermal cut-outs — which is what the ECC indicator is there to prevent.

What does the automatic oiler cost to run?

Oil is bought separately in six-quart bottles and consumption depends entirely on how much you shred. For most departmental users a bottle lasts a long time. Budget for it as a recurring consumable, and note that the 3104 and 4001 have no oiler at all if oil-free running is a procurement requirement.

How is it delivered and installed?

It ships at around 324 lb on a pallet. The cabinet is on casters, so once it is at floor level it rolls into place, but unloading and threshold crossings need equipment and two people. It also needs a 115 V, 20 amp dedicated line at the final location. Confirm both the delivery route and the circuit before scheduling.
