MBM DSH0368L 3105 cross-cut 3/32" x 5/8" (2 x 15 mm)

The MBM DSH0368L is the Destroyit 3105 with a 3/32 x 5/8 in (2 x 15 mm) cross-cut head, a DIN 66399 P-5 shredder that takes 24-26 sheets per pass. A 2.125 HP continuous-duty motor, a 12 in throat and a 37-gallon bin let it run P-5 destruction as an all-day task instead of an occasional one. It is built for central records functions, shared service centers and law firm filing rooms, and it needs a dedicated 20 amp, 115 V circuit.

What the bigger motor buys you at P-5

Fine particles normally mean short stacks. The 3104 with the same 2 x 15 mm head manages 14-17 sheets on 1 HP; the 3105 more than doubles the motor power and lifts the rating to 24-26 sheets. Across a busy day that difference adds up to far less time spent standing at the machine, which is what makes a P-5 policy workable for a central team.

The particle itself is 30 mm², the upper limit for P-5. That level is typically chosen when a contract, regulator or internal risk review asks for more than standard office cross-cut.

Features that suit many users

An integrated photo cell starts the cutters when paper reaches the opening and stops them when the feed clears, so users do not need to operate switches. The patented Electronic Capacity Control indicator shows how much headroom remains before a stack goes in. An automatic oiler doses the shafts during operation; oil comes separately in six-quart bottles, and keeping the reservoir topped up is the main routine task. The cutting shafts are milled at MBM's Balingen plant and covered for the life of the machine.

Plan the installation before ordering

This is a heavy machine: 324 lb shipping weight in a cabinet 40 in tall. Casters make it easy to roll once it is on the floor, but delivery through doorways and over thresholds needs two people and equipment. The 20 amp dedicated line is a real requirement because start-up current on a shared circuit will trip breakers, so arrange an electrician beforehand if no suitable outlet exists. MBM publishes no decibel figure for the 3105.

• DSH0369L (3105 P-4): 4 x 40 mm particles at 37-39 sheets per pass and rated for CDs and DVDs.
• DSH0316L (3104 P-5): the same cut at 14-17 sheets, 132 lb and running from a normal outlet. It is the sensible choice for a few hundred pages a day.
• DSH0264 (4606 P-5): 32-37 sheets with a feed hopper and 61-gallon bin, but it needs three-phase power.

Who should buy the 3105 P-5

Choose it when P-5 shredding happens all day and many people share the machine. Skip it if your daily volume is modest, if you cannot provide a dedicated 20 amp line, or if CDs and DVDs need destroying, because MBM rates only the P-4 3105 for optical media.
