MBM DSH0368L 3105 cross-cut 3/32" x 5/8" (2 x 15 mm)

The DSH0368L exists to solve the usual P-5 problem: high security normally costs you throughput. This is the Destroyit 3105 in 2 x 15 mm cross-cut, and its 2.125 HP motor holds 24 to 26 sheets per pass at a security level where the smaller 3104 manages 14 to 17. That is close to a 60 percent gain at identical particle size. The price for it is a considerably more serious machine: about 324 lb, a 40-inch-tall cabinet, and a dedicated 20 amp circuit that most buyers will need an electrician to provide. Plan the installation before you order this one.

Oil for the automatic oiler is not included and is ordered separately. Shred bags are also not included; the 37-gallon bin empties directly, and AC0901 bags fit if your process requires them.

Who Should Buy This — and Who Should Not

Buy this if you need P-5 destruction as a continuous activity rather than an occasional one — a records department, a shared services centre, a law firm’s central filing function. The combination of P-5 security and 24 to 26 sheets per pass is unusual, and the photo cell and automatic oiler mean it tolerates being used by many hands without careful operator discipline.

Do not buy this on price alone if your volume is modest: the DSH0316L is the same 2 x 15 mm cut in a 132 lb cabinet that runs off a normal outlet, and for a few hundred pages a day it is the rational purchase. Do not buy it if your site cannot provide a dedicated 20 amp line. And do not buy it for CDs or DVDs — MBM clears only the 4 x 40 mm cross-cut version of the 3105 for optical media, which is the DSH0369L.
