The 6 x 50 mm cross cut produces a 300 mm² particle, comfortably inside the DIN 66399 P-3 limit of 320 mm², and the conveyor still carries 65 to 82 sheets a pass. Against the strip-cut DSH0345 on the same chassis you lose roughly 13 sheets and two horsepower; you gain a security level that most confidentiality policies treat as the entry point.

The 4108 is a floor-standing, three-phase machine built around a powered conveyor belt. You load a stack onto the wide feed table, the belt carries it into the 16.2-inch throat, and an electronic oil injection system lubricates the shafts automatically so the cutting head is not starved during long runs. A rear door opens onto the waste compartment, and the plastic bag suspension pulls out on wheels rather than needing to be lifted.

Specifications

MBM quotes sheet capacity at 70 gsm paper on its published spec sheet and prints an explicit caveat alongside it: "realistic throughputs can be as low as half that of the theoretical capacities quoted." US 20 lb bond is roughly 75 gsm and slightly heavier, so plan around the lower end of the range, not the headline number.

What's in the Box

Delivered assembled with the conveyor feed table, waste compartment and wheeled bag suspension frame. Bags are not supplied. Liners must be sized to the 79-gallon compartment - confirm the current part number with your dealer, since MBM does not list it on the model spec sheet. A 220 V three-phase connection must be made by a qualified electrician.

Who Should Buy This - and Who Should Not

Buy it for a central shred station serving a whole building or a service bureau doing scheduled destruction runs. This is the configuration to specify when the paper includes customer records, invoices, HR files or anything with a name on it, and when the volume is measured in boxes rather than wastebaskets. The conveyor means one person can process a pallet of archive material without standing at a throat feeding handfuls all afternoon.

Do not buy it if your policy requires P-4 or higher. P-3 permits 320 mm² particles, and a 6 x 50 mm strip retains enough of a line to be worth reconstructing for a determined adversary; many privacy programmes now start at P-4. If that describes you, the 4606 cross-cut at P-5 (DSH0264) is the nearest high-capacity answer, at 32-37 sheets. Do not buy it without three-phase power on site. And if the volume is really departmental, a 4005 at P-4 on a normal 115 V circuit will cost far less to install and still meet a higher security level than this machine.
