MBM DSH0323 4001 cross-cut 3/32" x 5/8" (2 x 15 mm)

The MBM DSH0323 is the P-5 build of the Destroyit 4001, cutting paper into 3/32 x 5/8 in (2 x 15 mm) particles through a 16 in feed opening into a 44-gallon bin. It takes 13-16 sheets of 70 gsm paper per pass on a 1 HP motor that plugs into a standard 115 V outlet. It is made for records rooms that must meet P-5 and regularly handle tabloid, ledger or wide printouts that would need folding elsewhere.

A wide throat at a high security level

Most P-5 cabinets in the Destroyit lineup have a 12 in or narrower opening. The 4001 adds four inches over the 3104 and 3105, so 11 x 17 in sheets, ledger reports and continuous computer forms go in without being folded. Its 2 x 15 mm particle sits right at the 30 mm² ceiling for P-5, one class above the P-4 cross cut most offices use. The price of that combination is speed: a 1 HP motor turning a fine head is not built for heavy bulk work.

Safety, controls and upkeep

An electronically controlled SPS shield covers the feed, and the motor stops whenever the cabinet door opens or the bin is full. MBM's patented Electronic Capacity Control (ECC) shows how much more the cutters can take, and automatic reverse pushes back an overfed stack instead of trapping it. After 30 minutes idle, the machine cuts power completely rather than sitting in standby. Hardened shafts accept staples, paper clips and credit cards. There is no automatic oiler on this model, so follow the manual's guidance on periodic manual oiling with proper shredder oil. AC0901 bags fit if your disposal process calls for them.

Who it fits

The DSH0323 is right when two conditions meet: a written P-5 requirement and documents that are physically large. If your paper is all letter size, the 3104 gives the same cut for less. If daily volume is high, the oiled 4003 is the stronger machine. Optical discs are not approved on this P-5 head.
