MBM DSH0316L 3104 cross-cut 3/32" x 5/8" (2 x 15 mm)

The MBM DSH0316L is the highest-security build of the Destroyit 3104, cutting paper into 3/32 x 5/8 in (2 x 15 mm) particles that meet DIN 66399 level P-5. It handles 14-17 sheets per pass through a 12 in opening into a 32-gallon bin, running from a 1 HP motor on a standard 115 V circuit. It fits legal, medical, finance and board-level work where a policy asks for more than P-4 but the volume is moderate.

Why choose P-5 in the 3104 cabinet

A 2 x 15 mm particle measures 30 mm², the maximum DIN 66399 allows at P-5, and roughly a fifth of the area of the 4 x 40 mm cut on the P-4 3104. Its 2 mm width keeps it out of P-6, which requires particles no wider than 1 mm. In practice P-5 is chosen when a client contract, regulator or internal risk review asks for it: case files, clinical records, negotiations and board papers are typical.

The finer head costs capacity. With the same 1 HP motor as the other 3104 builds, the sheet count drops from 22-25 at P-4 to 14-17 here, and MBM does not rate this cut for optical discs.

Feeding and caring for the DSH0316L

Because the margin between a clean pass and a stall is narrower on a fine cutting head, the Electronic Capacity Control indicator earns its place on this model. Watch it, and feed slightly fewer sheets when the paper is heavy or wide. The SPS safety shield, automatic reverse and cut-off when the door is open or the bin is full are the same as on the rest of the 3104 range.

Maintenance is mostly emptying the bin. There is no oiler, the 32-gallon bin can be tipped straight out, and AC0920 bags are available for sites that bag their waste. The cabinet sits on casters for easy positioning.

Other P-5 and 3104 options

• DSH0315L: the 3104 at P-4 with 22-25 sheets and disc capability. Better value if P-4 meets your policy.
• DSH0368L: the 3105 at the same 2 x 15 mm cut, 24-26 sheets from a 2.125 HP motor and a 37-gallon bin, but it needs a dedicated 20 amp line.
• DSH0361L: the 2604 at P-5, 14-16 sheets in a smaller cabinet with a 10.25 in opening and 26-gallon bin.

Who the DSH0316L suits

It is a good match for a legal practice, records office or finance team that has a written P-5 requirement and shreds moderate amounts each day on ordinary office power. If you also need to destroy discs, need P-5 at higher volume, or only need P-4, one of the siblings above is the better buy.
