MBM DSH0315L 3104 cross-cut 3/16" x 1 1/2" (4 x 40 mm)

The MBM DSH0315L is the Destroyit 3104 fitted with a 3/16 x 1-1/2 in (4 x 40 mm) cross-cut head, giving DIN 66399 security level P-4 at 22-25 sheets per pass. A 12 in throat, a 32-gallon bin and a 1 HP motor on standard 115 V power make it a central shredder for a department that handles personnel, client or financial paperwork. Of the three 3104 builds, it is the balanced choice between the strip-cut and the P-5 model.

What the 3104's P-4 rating covers

DIN 66399 sets the P-4 limit at 160 mm² per particle, and a 4 x 40 mm piece lands exactly on that figure, so the classification is genuine rather than generous. P-4 is the level most privacy policies ask for when shredding staff files, patient paperwork, customer correspondence and financial statements. It is not meant for policies that call for P-5 or finer, and it is not a classified-material standard.

Unusually for a P-4 office cabinet, this cut is also cleared by MBM for common CDs and DVDs. Only two 3104 heads have that rating, this one and the strip-cut, so a single machine can take care of both document and disc disposal.

Built for a department rather than a desk

The 12 in feed opening is the practical reason to choose a 3104 over the smaller 2604: tabloid and legal pages pass straight in, and stacks need less squaring up. MBM's patented Electronic Capacity Control indicates load as the paper goes through, which teaches users where the real limit is. The SPS safety shield is electronically controlled, the cutters reverse automatically on an overfeed, and the drive stops when the door opens or the bin fills.

Running costs are low. The 3104 carries no oiler, so there is no oil to order, and the 32-gallon bin can be emptied directly. AC0920 bags fit if your recycling process requires bagged waste. The single-phase motor is rated for continuous operation.

Is the DSH0315L the right fit?

Choose it when a department needs documented P-4 destruction for regular filing clear-outs and also wants to dispose of the odd CD or DVD. Look at the DSH0316L if a contract names P-5, at the 3105 if the shredder is in use from morning to evening, and at the 2604 if only a handful of people share it.
