Which cut size does this model actually have?
6 x 50 mm, quoted by MBM as .25 inch by 2 inch, giving a 300 mm2 particle and a DIN 66399 P-3 rating. Some older listings for this SKU showed 3/16 inch by 2 3/8 inch, which does not match MBM's current spec sheet for the 4606; the correct figure is 6 x 50 mm. If your procurement paperwork quotes a different size, ask for the current MBM spec sheet before signing off.
Is P-3 enough for documents containing personal data?
It is a long-standing commercial confidentiality standard, but many current privacy programmes and client contracts specify P-4 as the minimum for personal data. P-3 allows particles up to 320 mm2. The right answer depends on what is written in your own policy and your customer agreements. If either names P-4 or P-5, this configuration does not meet it and you should specify the DSH0264 at P-5.
How much faster is it than the P-5 version?
Substantially. MBM rates this configuration at 50-60 sheets per pass at 70 gsm against 32-37 for the 2 x 15 mm P-5 build on the same chassis and motor - roughly 60 percent more paper per pass. Apply MBM's own caveat that realistic throughput can be half the theoretical figure, and with US 20 lb bond expect a comfortable working handful in the 30 to 40 sheet range.
Can I tip a whole sack of confidential waste into the hopper?
That is what the tilting hopper is designed for - MBM specifically calls it a feed hopper for bulky material. Tip in loose, crumpled paper rather than compacted blocks, and let the machine work through it. Pull out obvious contaminants first: ring binders, plastic wallets, laminated sheets and bulldog clips. Ordinary staples and paper clips in the paper stream are normal use for a 6 x 50 mm head.
How often will the 61-gallon bin need emptying?
At sustained use, daily. The bin is mobile and rolls out rather than needing to be lifted, which matters at this volume. Cross-cut waste at 6 x 50 mm settles reasonably well, but a machine taking 50-60 sheets a pass generates volume quickly. If you are running a consolidated shredding operation, plan the bin change into the routine rather than waiting for the full-bin stop.
What does installation require?
A 220 V three-phase supply installed by an electrician, a route capable of taking a 558 lb machine, and a bay allowing the fold-out feed table to drop, an operator to stand at the hopper, and the shred bin to roll out. The machine itself is only 30 by 29 inches on the floor and 67 inches tall. Three-phase availability is the constraint that most often determines where it can be sited.
