MBM DSH0068 2465 strip-cut 3/16" (4 mm)

The MBM DSH0068 is the strip-cut version of the Destroyit 2465, slicing paper into 3/16 in (4 mm) strips at DIN 66399 P-2 and taking 19-22 sheets of 70 g/m² paper per pass. It is the only 2465 that MBM rates for CDs and DVDs, and it rolls on castors in a 25-inch wooden cabinet. Buy it to get rid of large amounts of routine paper quickly, not to protect personal data.

A sensible job for a strip cutter

Strip cut has a weak reputation for security, and rightly so: each 4 mm strip keeps an unbroken vertical slice of the page, and a determined person can reassemble it. Yet most offices produce far more paper that just should not sit legible in an open recycling bin than paper that holds regulated personal data. Sending drafts, old print runs, meeting packs and outdated brochures through a fast P-2 machine, and the sensitive records through a P-4 or P-5 unit, is quicker and cheaper than forcing everything through one high-security shredder.

Discs, mixed waste and the castor cabinet

Being able to drop old CDs and DVDs into the same machine is handy for an office still clearing out optical archives. Feed discs one at a time; the result breaks them up but does not meet a media-destruction standard, so sensitive data on disc belongs in a dedicated media destroyer. Staples, paper clips and credit cards need no sorting out beforehand.

The castors let you wheel the cabinet between desks or out to the recycling point. Power cuts off when the bin fills or the door opens. Strips pack densely and heavily, so a bag makes emptying much easier; bags are not included. Discs are harder on the cutters than paper, so keep up with oiling at MBM's stated interval if you use that capability often.
