MBM DSH0065 2445 cross-cut 3/32" x 5/8" (2 x 15 mm)

The MBM DSH0065 is the Destroyit 2445 with a 3/32 x 5/8 in (2 x 15 mm) cross-cut head, a P-5 shredder under DIN 66399 that takes 6-8 sheets of 70 g/m² paper per pass. It is a personal or two-person deskside machine with a 9.5-inch throat, a 9-gallon bin and a 0.5 HP motor. Pick it when your policy asks how small the particles are, not how fast the paper goes.

What P-5 buys you over the P-4 version

The P-4 2445 cuts 4 x 40 mm pieces of 160 mm². This head cuts 30 mm², more than five times smaller in area, and it sits exactly on the P-5 limit. In practice the output looks like a grain of rice rather than a sliver, which suits identifiable patient records, client legal files and account statements. The cost is stack size: the cabinet, motor and throat are the same as the P-4 model, but you feed about half as much per pass.

Running the 2445 P-5 day to day

A photocell starts and stops the shafts; an automatic reverse clears an overfeed; double thermal protection stops the motor if it overheats and lets it resume once cool. Power cuts out when the cabinet door is opened or the bin is full, and after 30 minutes idle the machine drops into a zero-energy sleep. The hardened steel shafts are milled at MBM's plant in Balingen.

Two consumables matter here. Fine cross-cut teeth collect paper dust, so oil the shafts at the interval in MBM's operating instructions. And line the bin with a bag, which is sold separately: 2 x 15 mm confetti escapes easily when a bin is tipped.

Who should buy it

It is the right 2445 when a retention policy, insurer or client contract specifies P-5 and one or two people do the shredding. If volume is the problem, the 2465 P-5 or the P-4 2445 will serve you better.
