The Destroyit 2265 is the smallest machine in MBM's range that still delivers a genuine DIN 66399 P-4 cross-cut, and it is built for one desk rather than one department. At 21 inches tall and 28 pounds it tucks under a workstation, but the cutting shafts are the same hardened, staple-proof steel MBM mills at its Balingen factory for its larger office machines. The trade-off you accept for that footprint is throughput: five to six sheets per pass, not fifteen.

MBM sells the 2265 as an entry into its professional range rather than a scaled-down office machine, and the distinction shows in the construction: a wooden cabinet instead of a moulded plastic shell, a magnetic interlock on the bin, and shafts rated to survive staples. What it does not have is capacity. Understanding that before you buy is the difference between a shredder that quietly does its job for a decade and one that irritates you every afternoon.

What's in the Box

The shredder ships assembled as a wooden cabinet with the removable plastic shred bin fitted, plus the operating manual. Shred bags are not included. The 2265 uses a rigid bin that is designed to be emptied directly, so a bag is optional rather than required.

Who Should Buy This — and Who Should Not

Buy the 2265 if one person generates a steady trickle of confidential paper — a practice manager, an HR desk, a small legal or accounting office — and you want P-4 without surrendering floor space. It is quiet enough to sit beside a phone and it handles fasteners, which is the practical difference between a professional machine and a consumer one.

Do not buy it for shared use. A 5-gallon bin and a five-to-six sheet bite mean that two or three people feeding it will spend more time emptying than shredding, and the 0.25 HP motor is not sized for continuous batch work. It also does not shred credit cards or optical media — MBM does not list either for this model. If you need cards, look at the Destroyit 2465 cross-cut models; if you simply need more paper per pass at the same P-4 level, the Destroyit 2445 P-4 (DSH0066) takes 11–13 sheets on a 9-gallon bin for a modest step up in footprint.

Running Costs and Care

Cross-cut shafts need periodic oiling to keep cutting cleanly and quietly; MBM specifies the interval and method in the operating instructions supplied with the machine, and that is the guidance to follow rather than a general rule. Beyond that the 2265 asks very little: empty the bin before the paper compacts, keep the feed opening clear, and do not feed anything MBM has not rated. The zero-energy standby means it draws nothing between uses, so there is no case for switching it off at the wall.
