Frequently Asked Questions
Can I fit this camera system to an HDS 150?
HSM does not list article 2493111 for the HDS 150. The only device type in its technical data is the HDS 230. Treat it as an HDS 230 option unless HSM confirms otherwise for your specific machine and serial number, which we can ask on your behalf.
How long is the footage kept, and in what format?
HSM does not publish the recording resolution, storage capacity, retention period or export format for this option. We would rather tell you that than invent a number. If your destruction policy specifies a retention window or an evidence format, raise it with us and we will get a written answer from HSM before you commit to the order.
Does the camera make the HDS 230 compliant with a particular standard on its own?
No. Compliance rests on the shredder's particle size, your documented process and your operating records. The camera is a documentation aid that supports an audit trail; it is not itself a certification and does not change the machine's destruction rating.
Can it be retrofitted to an HDS 230 already in service?
It is sold as an accessory rather than a factory-only build option, which implies retrofit is intended, but HSM does not publish an installation procedure or state whether a technician visit is required. Confirm the retrofit path with us before ordering for a machine that is already installed.
Do I need the hand scanner as well?
Not technically, but the two are complementary. The scanner (article 2492111) captures the identifier of each item; the camera captures the physical event. If your goal is to prove that serial number X was destroyed, you want both. If you only need a visual record of the process, the camera alone is enough.
