Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the only oil pack for the 5009?
It is the pack MBM lists for it, alongside the 4605 and 4606. MBM also states its shredder oil is formulated for use in any Destroyit model, so a smaller pack would not damage the machine. It would simply mean refilling the reservoir on a 24 horsepower shredder from quart bottles, which is not a job anyone volunteers for twice.
How long will four gallons last?
MBM does not publish a consumption rate, and it depends entirely on how many hours a day the machine runs. Rather than work to a calendar, check the reservoir level whenever the bin or the external container is emptied. Sites running a 5009 in a shared shred room typically treat oil as a standing stock item rather than a per-order purchase.
Can I decant it into smaller bottles for other machines?
Yes. It is the same oil MBM supplies in pint and quart containers, so decanting into a clean squeeze bottle for hand-oiling a smaller Destroyit is reasonable. Use a clean container and label it, since an unlabelled bottle of clear oil in a print room ends up used for something it should not be.
Does the 4605 need this if it also uses AC0901 bags?
The two are unrelated. AC0901 is the shred bag case for the 4605 and 4606 bins; ACCED21/G is the oil for their automatic oilers. A machine of that size needs both, and running out of either one takes it out of service just as effectively.
