Description

ACCED21/6 is six one-quart bottles of MBM Destroyit shredder oil, packaged for machines fitted with an automatic oiler. The quart bottle exists for one practical reason: it fills a reservoir in a single pour instead of four, and the machines it serves consume noticeably more oil than a hand-oiled deskside unit.

Compatible Models

MBM lists this pack for the automatic oiler Destroyit models 2604, 3105, 4002, 4005 and 4108. MBM's own page text also names the 4003. Note that not every configuration of these chassis ships with an oiler — on several Destroyit models the automatic oiler is fitted to the cross-cut and micro-cut versions only, so check your machine before assuming it has a reservoir to fill.

Specifications

Bottle size 1 quart (32 fl oz)
Total volume 6 quarts (1.5 gallons)
Type High-cling, non-toxic, non-detergent shredder oil

Notes on Use

An automatic oiler does not remove maintenance, it reschedules it. Instead of oiling after each bag change, someone checks a reservoir level. Machines that run dry because nobody checked show it first as a drop in sheet capacity, then as repeated jams on paper counts the machine used to handle without complaint. Build the level check into the same routine as emptying the bin and it takes seconds.

MBM does not publish a refill interval for these reservoirs, which is reasonable: consumption tracks running hours, not calendar days. A machine in a busy shred room will work through this pack far faster than one used for an hour a week. Six quarts is a sensible standing stock for a single machine, and worth holding rather than ordering reactively when the reservoir is already empty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my machine have an automatic oiler?

It depends on the configuration, not just the model number. Across the Destroyit range the automatic oiler is commonly fitted to cross-cut and micro-cut versions and omitted from strip-cut ones, and some chassis such as the 3104 and 4001 have no oiler in any configuration. Look for a translucent reservoir bottle behind the front door. If there is none, buy the pint packs and oil by hand.

Can I use this oil in a machine that is oiled by hand?

Yes. MBM describes its shredder oil as formulated for use in any Destroyit model, and the quart bottle pours perfectly well into a feed opening. It is simply a larger container than most hand-oiled machines need. If you are only servicing a deskside shredder, ACCED21/4 or ACCED21/8 is the more practical pack.

How often does the reservoir need refilling?

MBM does not publish a refill interval, and it varies too much with duty cycle for a general figure to be useful. Treat it as a visual check on the same schedule as the bag change: look at the level every time the bin is emptied, and top it up before it reaches the bottom of the sight window.

Is this the right pack for a 4605 or 5009?

No. Those larger machines are listed against ACCED21/G, four one-gallon bottles, along with the 4606. The gallon container matches their consumption rate, which is far higher than an office machine's. Ordering quarts for a 5009 will not harm anything, since MBM specifies the same oil across the Destroyit range, but it means refilling the reservoir far more often than necessary on a machine that is already awkward to service.
