The intimus 14.87 is an industrial shredder with a horizontal baling press bolted to the back of it, and that second half is the entire point: instead of producing cubic metres of loose confetti that someone has to bag, it hands you finished bales weighing 130–175 lb. This configuration (part numbers 699934 and 475904) is the 3.8 x 40 mm cut version — 152 mm² particles, inside the 160 mm² ceiling DIN 66399 sets for P-4, rather than the coarser 6 x 50 mm P-3 build intimus also offers.

That distinction matters commercially. A P-3 shredder-baler is a waste-handling machine that happens to be secure enough for internal paper. A P-4 one can absorb a service bureau's or a records department's regulated material as well, which is usually what justifies the capital cost against a cabinet machine plus a collection contract.

What's in the Box

This is a two-part-number order — 699934 for the shredder and 475904 for the baling press — delivered as an industrial installation, not a boxed product. It requires a 220 V three-phase supply, freight delivery and positioning on a floor that can carry it. Baling wire or strapping for the press is an ongoing consumable and is not included. Who Should Buy This — and Who Should Not

The 14.87 makes sense for in-house destruction operations, records-management departments, print and mailing houses, and any site currently paying a shredding contractor enough per month that the capital cost amortises. The specific reason to choose the shredder-baler over a plain industrial shredder is labour: if the hidden cost of your current process is staff bagging and hauling loose shred, the baler removes it, and baled paper earns more from recyclers.

Do not buy it for an office. This is a three-phase industrial machine that needs a loading area and a service clearance, and no amount of confidential paper from a normal office justifies it — the intimus 130 CP4 or intimus 120 CP4 cabinet shredders cover that job for a fraction of the money. Do not buy it if you need the volume but not the bales: the intimus 14.95 is the same shredder without the press. Do not buy it if your requirement is P-5 or higher — industrial shredder-balers in this class do not reach those levels, and high-security destruction belongs on a machine like the intimus 120 CP7. And if your throughput problem is genuinely large, the intimus 16.50 handles several times the paper per hour, at P-3 or P-2, with a conveyor feed.
