The intimus 14.87 (699924, supplied with item 475904) combines a 6 x 50 mm P-3 cross-cut shredder with an 80 kN (9-ton) baling press in a single machine. It accepts 120 sheets of 80 g/m² paper per pass through its 17 in (440 mm) feed, then reduces the shred's volume by as much as 70% in 60-80 kg (130-175 lb) bales. It is meant for sites where moving, storing and hauling loose shred now costs more than the shredding itself.

How the press cycle runs without supervision

Shred falls from the cutting head into the press chamber. Once enough has built up, compaction starts on its own. When a bale is finished, an indicator lights and the cutting stops so nothing is forced into a full chamber; the operator ejects the bale with a push-button, straps it and carries on feeding. A conveyor belt carries paper in, overloads trigger reverse automatically and a sensor reports a full chamber, so one person can keep feeding. For safety there is an emergency stop bar and a master switch that locks, plus a built-in dust extractor.

What baling changes in your waste costs

Unpressed shred takes up far more room than the paper it came from. Cutting its volume by up to 70% means fewer collection bags, less storage space and fewer haulage trips, and compact bales are easier to sell to a recycler than bags of loose paper. That saving is the whole case for the 14.87 over the bag-fed 14.95, which uses the same cutting head.

Strapping tape is not included: intimus pairs this model with the 500 m roll (item 80661); shorter 300 m and 400 m rolls are items 80804 and 80662. Other listed accessories: item 96946, cutting-block oil in a 5-liter can; item 99969, a reusable heavy-duty collecting bag; and item 303101, the APU 100 suction unit. Optional extras include an automatic oiler and a moisture-protection bagging system.

Who the 14.87 suits

Records centers, public agencies, bank and insurance back offices, and smaller shredding contractors that already shred at volume and pay to move the waste. It is overkill if bales would fill slowly, and the 6 x 50 mm cut stops at P-3, short of the P-4 level that most policies set for personal data. Plan for three-phase power, a rigged delivery and clearance at the discharge end for bale removal.
