Can it really take crumpled paper straight from a confidential waste sack?
Yes - intimus lists crumpled paper among the approved materials for the H200 CP4, and this is one of the main reasons to buy an industrial machine rather than a large office one. The 444 mm intake and the torque of the 2,600 W drive let you tip a handful of screwed-up paper in without flattening it first. In practice this is the difference between a central shredding station people use and one they walk past.
How does 75 sheets per pass translate into real throughput?
It is a peak figure at 80 g/m2, not a sustained rate. Feeding continuously and in full-width loads, an operator working through boxed records will clear far more in an hour than several desk-side machines running in parallel. The realistic constraint is bin changes and the operator, not the cutting head. Plan the workflow around the 200-litre bin: that is what sets how often someone has to stop.
Does the H200 CP4 handle CDs and plastic cards?
Yes. Its approved materials list covers CD, DVD and Blu-ray discs, plastic cards and floppy disks alongside paper with staples and paper clips. Feed media items individually rather than mixed into a paper load. For volume destruction of solid-state media - SSDs, USB devices, phones - use a purpose-built machine such as the intimus FlashEx or HDD Gladiator; a paper shredder's cutting head is not designed for that duty.
What electrical supply does it need?
The published intimus datasheet for this model specifies 400 V / 50 Hz three-phase, which is the European configuration. The North American version of the machine is supplied differently and we have not been able to verify the exact US voltage, phase and current draw from intimus documentation, so we are not going to guess at it. Contact us before ordering and we will confirm the requirement for your unit so an electrician can prepare the drop in advance.
Is P-4 enough for a central shredding station?
For most commercial and public-sector records, yes - P-4 at 3.8 x 40 mm is the level the majority of retention and disposal policies specify, and it is the standard grade for outsourced shredding services too. It is not enough for classified material, which is governed by NSA/CSS 02-01 and requires a 1 mm x 5 mm particle and an NSA Evaluated Products List entry. If part of your material needs higher security, run a small P-7 machine such as the intimus 60 CP7 alongside the H200 rather than upgrading everything.
How much space and access does it need?
The machine is 75 cm wide, 55 cm deep and 180 cm tall, and weighs 217 kg. Allow clearance in front for the operator and the feed table, and behind or to the side for bin removal. Check doorway widths and lift capacity along the delivery route - at 217 kg this is a two-person or pallet-truck installation, not something you carry up a staircase.
What does the warranty cover?
intimus North America classes the H200 as an industrial shredder: one year on parts, 90 days on labour, and three years on the cutting cylinders. Labour cover applies in the continental US only. Normal wear items - cutters, gears, belts, chains, PC boards and optics - are excluded unless found defective. Given the duty this machine sees, budget for consumables and a regular oiling schedule as an operating cost rather than a warranty matter.
