intimus SSD Granulator High-Performance Granulator for SSDs

The intimus SSD Granulator is an industrial granulator for solid-state and other electronic media whose security level depends on the sizing screen installed: E-3 with no screen, E-4 with a 5 mm screen and E-5 with a 3.5 mm screen under ISO/IEC 21964 (DIN 66399). Media is cut and recirculated until the fragments are small enough to pass the screen, giving a consistent particle. It is designed for ITAD providers, secure destruction services and government or defense IT teams that must meet more than one destruction standard.

How the sizing screen sets the result

A rotary cutter breaks the media down inside a chamber closed off by a perforated screen. Fragments larger than the screen holes stay in the chamber and are cut again; only pieces that fit through drop into the bin. Swap the screen and you change the largest possible particle, which is what moves the machine between DIN levels. Without a screen the cut is coarser and the machine is at its quickest, suitable for bulk commercial E-3 work.

Trading speed for security

Finer screens mean far more recirculation, and the rated output drops accordingly:

• No screen: up to 1,000 units/h, roughly 35 kg/h
• 5 mm screen: up to 180 units/h, roughly 6.5 kg/h
• 3.5 mm screen: up to 85 units/h, roughly 3 kg/h

For a service provider, that means scheduling jobs by required level: run bulk E-3 batches without a screen, then fit the finer screen only for the contracts that call for it. Phones and tablets must have their batteries removed before feeding, and at 70 dB(A) the machine belongs in a dedicated destruction room.

SSD Granulator, FlashEx or HDD Gladiator?

• intimus FlashEx: a 122 kg office machine with a fixed 4 x 15 mm E-3 particle. If E-3 is your ceiling, it is the simpler and smaller option.
• intimus HDD Gladiator: the model for spinning hard drives, rated H-3 with 30 mm blades and up to 150 3.5 in drives per hour. The Granulator does not accept HDDs, so facilities often run both.

Who should choose the SSD Granulator

It is the right machine when a contract or policy specifies E-4 or E-5 for flash media, or when one facility serves clients with different requirements. It is the wrong one for HDD destruction, for sites lacking an industrial supply or floor capacity for 430 kg, and for anyone who only needs E-3 at volume.
