The Dahle CleanTEC 51422 is a P-5 micro-cut office shredder that cuts paper into 1/13" x 9/16" particles, takes 13 sheets of 20 lb bond per pass, and filters up to 98% of the fine dust shredding releases. What P-5 adds over the P-4 CleanTEC 51414

The 51422 uses the same cabinet and filter as the 51414 but cuts much finer. DIN 66399 allows up to 30 mm² per particle at P-5. The 51422's cut of about 28 mm² sits just inside that limit, a fraction of the area of a P-4 strip. That matters when your retention policy names P-5 for personnel files, patient records or account data. The cost is throughput: 13 sheets per pass instead of 18. Dahle's US literature calls the cut cross-cut, but by particle size it is what most buyers would call micro-cut.

Why this CleanTEC carries an oiler

Finer cylinders need lubrication, and on most office shredders that maintenance step gets skipped. Dahle builds the job into the machine: the EvenFlow Lubricator lays a thin, continuous film of oil across the full cylinder width while the shredder runs. Your only task is refilling the reservoir with Dahle 20721 (12 oz) or 20722 (1 gallon). The Trident Grip cylinder profile holds each sheet at three points so the stack feeds straight rather than skewing, and a thermally protected, chain-driven continuous-duty motor on rubber shock mounts powers the cut.

Staples, paper clips and credit cards are accepted. CDs and DVDs are not on this model's materials list.
