Description

The Dahle CleanTEC 41534 is the department-scale machine in Dahle's NSA-listed high-security range. It cuts the same 1 x 4.7 mm P-7 particle as the 41334 and 41434, but through a 12-inch throat into a 38-gallon bin, in a cabinet built for centralized destruction rather than a single desk. Dahle positions it for five or more users or a shared secure destruction point, and it carries a high-volume rating on the NSA/CSS Evaluated Products List.

Key Features

  • NSA/CSS EPL listed, high-volume rating. The 41534 appears on the current NSA/CSS Evaluated Products List for paper shredders under Dahle North America with a high-volume rating.
  • 12-inch feed opening. The widest throat of the three CleanTEC high-security models - it accepts 11 x 17 tabloid flat, which the 10.25-inch 41334 and 41434 cannot.
  • 38-gallon waste bin. Department capacity, and the largest in Dahle's high-security line.
  • 1 x 4.7 mm particle, DIN 66399 P-7. 4.7 mm² per fragment against the 5 mm² P-7 ceiling, at the 1 mm strip-width limit.
  • CleanTEC fine dust filtration. Dahle states up to 98% of harmful fine dust is captured, which matters most in exactly this application - a shared machine running P-7 volume in an enclosed secure room.
  • Automatic EvenFlow Lubricator. Continuous automatic oiling across the cutting cylinders.
  • Chain-driven, continuous-duty motor at 23 ft/min. The fastest linear speed of the three high-security models, with lockable casters and bin-full auto-off.

Figures above are as published by Dahle for this model. Dahle quotes sheet capacity under ideal conditions - new cutting cylinders, a cold motor and a supply at nominal voltage and frequency. Dahle does not publish a motor wattage, amperage or duty-cycle figure for this shredder.

What's in the Box

Dahle does not publish a full packing list for this model. What ships is the assembled shredder on its waste-bin cabinet with lockable casters, the power cord and the instruction manual.

  • Shred bags are not included. The 38 gallons bin takes Dahle shred bags item #20726, sold separately in boxes of 100.
  • The CleanTEC dust filter is fitted at the factory. Replacements are a separate consumable.
  • The EvenFlow Lubricator requires Dahle shredder oil, which is an ongoing consumable and is not supplied in quantity with the machine.

Who Should Buy This - and Who Should Not

This is the machine for a facility rather than an office: a shared secure destruction point, a records function inside a cleared environment, or any operation where several people bring classified paper to one place. The 12-inch throat and 38-gallon bin are what make that workable, and the NSA high-volume rating supports it.

It is a lot of machine at 146 pounds and a 29-inch cabinet width. If your classified destruction is one team's occasional output, the CleanTEC 41434 does the identical cut at 8 sheets into a 30-gallon bin in a much smaller footprint, and the 41334 smaller still. Note also that at 8 sheets per pass this is not a high-throughput shredder in the ordinary sense - it is a high-volume P-7 machine, which is a different thing. If your requirement is bulk commercial destruction rather than classified material, a P-4 department machine such as the Dahle 50514 will clear three times the paper for a fraction of the cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes this different from the 41434 apart from size?

Three things: a 12-inch feed opening instead of 10.25, a 38-gallon bin instead of 30, and a department cabinet at 146 pounds against 102. The cut, the P-7 rating and the NSA high-volume rating are identical. Sheet capacity is the same 8 per pass. You are buying width, bin capacity and a shared-use cabinet, not a faster cut.

Is it NSA approved, and how do I confirm that?

Yes. The 41534 is listed on the current NSA/CSS Evaluated Products List for paper shredders with a high-volume rating. NSA/CSS 02-01 requires both a maximum 1 mm x 5 mm particle and EPL listing of the specific model - a P-7 rating on its own is not NSA approval. The EPL is republished quarterly; if approval is contractual, cite the edition in force at your purchase date.

Will 11 x 17 tabloid fit?

Yes, the 12-inch throat takes tabloid flat. That is the practical reason to choose this over the 41434, whose 10.25-inch opening requires folding wide sheets - and folding doubles the effective thickness, which on a machine rated for 8 sheets is a real limitation.

Does it shred anything other than paper?

Dahle publishes no optical-media or credit-card rating for the CleanTEC high-security line and lists paper as the media. Remove staples, clips and fasteners before feeding. Classified optical, magnetic and solid-state media destruction is covered by separate NSA/CSS specifications and requires separately evaluated equipment.

How much space does it need?

The cabinet is 21 x 29 inches on the floor and 34.5 inches tall, on lockable casters. Allow clear space in front for the bin to be withdrawn and enough room to present a full 12-inch-wide sheet to the throat. At 146 pounds it rolls easily on hard floor but needs two people to unpack and to cross a threshold.

What are the ongoing consumables?

Three: Dahle shred bags #20726 for the 31-55 gallon bin range, Dahle shredder oil for the EvenFlow Lubricator, and replacement CleanTEC dust filters. None are supplied in quantity with the machine. Budget for all three - a high-security machine that runs out of oil or is used with a clogged filter will not perform as specified.

Can it run continuously through a large purge?

Dahle specifies a chain-driven, continuous-duty motor, so it is built for sustained running rather than short bursts. The practical limit on a large purge is the 8-sheet pass rate rather than the motor. Dahle does not publish a run-time and cool-down figure for this model; the motor is thermally protected and will stop itself if it overheats.
