Powershred 425Ci 100% Jam Proof BAA Compliant Cross-Cut Shredder

The Fellowes Powershred 425Ci is the largest Powershred cross-cut cabinet, shredding 30 sheets of 20 lb paper per pass to DIN 66399 P-4 through a 12 in entry into a 30-gallon bin. An automatic oiler and continuous-duty motor make it a central shredding station for a whole floor or building rather than a single team.

The wide entry is the 425Ci's real advantage

Every other Powershred Ci cabinet tops out at a 9.5 in entry or less. At 12 in, the 425Ci accepts ledger-size and A3 sheets fed short edge first, and it lets people drop in an untidy handful from a box without squaring it up. On a machine shared by many people, that tolerance for sloppy feeding is what keeps the line moving.

The cut is also the finest of the Powershred cabinets. At roughly 4 x 29 mm it is shorter than the 4 x 38 mm particle of the 125Ci and 225Ci. The class stays P-4, but the strips are noticeably smaller.

An oiler that does the job nobody remembers

Cutters that go unoiled lose capacity until someone reports the machine as faulty. The 425Ci carries its own oil supply and lubricates the cutting head automatically, so the maintenance happens whether or not anyone remembers it. You keep the reservoir topped up with Fellowes shredder oil, part 35250, which is bought separately. Aerosol lubricants must never be used.

Around the cutters sit the 100% Jam Proof System, which blocks an over-thick stack before it engages, SafeSense hand-contact protection at the entry, and an Energy Savings System. Fellowes uses SilentShred acoustics but does not publish a decibel rating.

425Ci or a smaller Powershred cabinet?

The 225Ci takes 22 sheets through a 9.5 in entry into a 16-gallon bin, and the 125Ci takes 20 sheets through a 9 in entry into 14 gallons. Both are P-4 and both are easier to fit into a department corner. Neither has the automatic oiler or the 12 in entry. If a policy calls for finer destruction, the Microshred 225Mi reaches P-5 at about 24 mm², and the Fortishred HS-440 reaches P-7 with four sheets per pass.

Who the 425Ci is for

Choose it as the one shredder that serves a large office, a mailroom or a shared print area, especially where federal procurement rules make trade-agreement compliance a requirement. It is too much machine for a small team: at 37.5 in tall and 125 lb it needs a permanent spot, and a 30-gallon bin of shred is heavy to empty. A department of a handful of people will be better served by the 225Ci or 125Ci.
