The intimus PacMaster S is not a shredder. It is a cardboard converter: it takes used corrugated boxes, perforates and trims them, and produces an expandable cushioning mat up to 425 mm wide that you use in place of bought void fill. The business case is straightforward - the cardboard you currently pay to have removed becomes the packing material you currently pay to buy in. This unit is supplied in a 220 V three-phase configuration.

How it changes the packing bench

Most sites run the PacMaster S in short bursts to fill a hopper beside the packing station rather than continuously. An operator feeds flattened boxes in at the 425 mm intake, and the converted mat comes out ready to fold around the product or drop into a void. Because the output is a continuous perforated sheet rather than loose fill, packers can tear off exactly the length they need, which tends to reduce material use compared with air pillows or loose-fill chips. Remove tape, staples and heavy plastic labels before feeding, and keep the board dry - damp cardboard converts poorly and loads the motor.

Who Should Buy This - and Who Should Not

Buy the PacMaster S if you ship goods and receive stock in boxes - e-commerce fulfilment, spare parts operations, small manufacturers, distribution warehouses. The economics work when two costs meet: what you currently spend on bubble wrap, air pillows or paper void fill, and what you currently spend on cardboard waste collection. Sites that are trying to remove plastic void fill for environmental or customer-facing reasons usually find this the easiest single change to make.

Do not buy it if your incoming cardboard is coated, waxed or laminated - it will not convert properly, and the machine is specified for dry uncoated corrugated only. Do not buy it as a security product either: it perforates and trims cardboard, it does not destroy information, and it carries no DIN 66399 security level. If your aim is to destroy branded or labelled packaging rather than reuse it, a multi-material shredder such as the intimus OmniShred 85 or 115 is the correct machine. And check the electrical supply first - this is a three-phase installation, not something you plug into a bench outlet.
