Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 115 more capable than the OmniShred 85, or just bigger?
Just bigger. The cutting system, the 3.6 x 43 mm P-4 particle, the 30-sheet front slot, the 250 x 130 mm top feed, the 1,100 W motor and the 63 dB(A) noise level are identical. The 115 has a 115-litre removable cardboard container in place of the 85's 68-litre bin, stands 108.5 cm instead of 81 cm, and weighs 100 kg instead of 90 kg. Buy it for the interval between emptying, not for better destruction.
What is a removable cardboard container and where do I get more?
It is a lined corrugated container that sits inside the cabinet and is lifted out complete when full, rather than a rigid bin you tip. That suits sites where waste is handed over sealed. The containers are consumables, so order a stock alongside the machine - running out means the machine stops. Ask us for the current part number for your configuration when you order.
How many sheets does 115 litres hold?
intimus does not publish a sheet-equivalent figure for this container, and we are not going to invent one. As a working guide, cross-cut P-4 waste at this particle size fills a container far faster than the flat sheets suggest, and mixed material - cardboard, plastic containers, blister packs - fills it faster still. Plan on emptying more often than a paper-only calculation would predict.
Can it handle a whole week of pharmacy waste in one session?
That depends on your volumes, but the 115-litre container and the top feed rated for three to four bulky items at a time are exactly what batch working needs. Pill bottles and blister packs are on the intimus approved materials list. Confirm with your own clinical waste policy and your disposal contractor that shredded pharmaceutical packaging is an acceptable stream for you before you build a process around it.
Does it fit through a standard doorway?
The cabinet is 66 cm wide and 55 cm deep, so it passes through a standard 76 cm doorway. Height is 108.5 cm, which is not a problem for doorways but does matter for placement under low shelving or a counter. At 100 kg it is a two-person move on a level floor and a pallet-truck job over any distance; check the delivery route including lift capacity before the machine arrives.
Is P-4 enough for shredding passports and ID documents?
For the paper elements, P-4 is the level most identity-document disposal policies specify and the OmniShred 115 meets it. What P-4 paper destruction does not address is an embedded RFID chip, which is covered by the E levels of the same standard rather than the P levels. If chip destruction is part of your requirement, pair this machine with a dedicated electronic media shredder such as the intimus FlashEx.
