The intimus 60 CP7 (279294S1) is a compact P-7 office shredder that cuts paper into 0.8 x 4.5 mm particles, the highest paper security level in DIN 66399. It shares the 60-series cabinet with the CP4 and CP5, takes up to 5 sheets per pass through a 9.25 in (235 mm) throat, and stores about 2,100 sheets of waste in a 16-gallon (60-liter) bin. It suits legal, R&D, executive and government offices where a small number of documents carry very high risk.

What sets the 60 CP7 apart in the 60 series

Most of the cabinet is shared with the lower-security models: the sealed housing, automatic start, stop and reverse, and indicator lights for standby, full bin, open door and jams. The difference is the cutting head. Its 0.8 mm strip width falls below the 1 mm figure that high-security specifications such as NSA/CSS 02-01 reference, and at 3.6 mm2 the particle is comfortably inside the 5 mm2 P-7 cap. The trade-off is capacity: five sheets against seventeen on the 60 CP4.

A note for government buyers: a P-7 rating does not by itself make a shredder NSA approved. The published data for this model does not confirm an Evaluated Products List entry, so check the current NSA list for 279294S1 before relying on it for classified material.

Bin capacity and upkeep

Because P-7 waste is almost powder, the 60-liter bin holds roughly 2,100 sheets, more sheet-equivalent than the P-4 version of the same cabinet. Bags are not included. Buy shredder oil with the machine and oil the cylinders at every bin change; a P-7 head has many more edges in contact than a P-4 head and loses capacity quickly when dry. Only paper (staples included) and foil are approved.

Who should buy the 60 CP7

Buy it for sensitive paper in an ordinary-sized secure office where P-7 is required and a few hundred pages a week is typical. Avoid it as a general departmental shredder, for destroying optical discs, cards or electronic media (the intimus FlashEx handles flash media), or where the shorter high-security warranty is a concern.
