Description

The KOBRA 270 TS C4 AO is a P-4 cross-cut shredder that cuts 3.9 x 40 mm particles, takes 24-26 sheets of 70 gsm paper per pass and empties into a 29-gallon cabinet bin. It sits on the 270 TS touch-screen chassis with a 12.2 in throat and adds an integrated automatic oiler. It is built for departments that shred records with names, account numbers or health details every day.

The 270 TS C4 AO cutting system

Carbon-hardened steel knives on a chain drive with steel gears do the cutting, and Kobra rates them as unaffected by staples and paper clips, so stapled sets go in as they are. Binder clips and ring mechanisms still need removing. The 500 W motor (3/4 HP on Kobra's US datasheet) is rated for 24-hour continuous duty, so there is no cool-down timer to work around during a purge. The integrated oiler lubricates the head from an on-board reservoir; cross-cut knives that run dry lose sheet capacity first, and this takes the task out of human hands.

Touch controls built for daily use

Forward, reverse and stop are capacitive touch pads rather than switches. An EPC display shows the cutting load in real time, so staff can see an overload coming. For transparent film, hold Forward for five seconds and the machine runs continuously for 30 seconds. Auto start and stop, auto reverse and safety stops for an open door or full bin are standard. Energy Smart puts the machine on standby after eight seconds idle and cuts it from the mains after four hours.

The head and caster-mounted cabinet arrive as one assembled unit with the power cord and operating manual. Bags and Kobra cutting-head oil are not included; add both to your first order.

No. NSA/CSS Specification 02-01 requires particles of 1 x 5 mm or smaller and a listing on the NSA Evaluated Products List. The 270 TS C4 AO cuts 3.9 x 40 mm at P-4, so it meets neither condition. The 270 TS HS-6 AO is the classified-grade model in this family.

Can I put stapled documents into the 270 TS C4 AO?

Yes. Kobra states its carbon-hardened steel knives are unaffected by staples and paper clips, so normal stapled or clipped sets can go straight in. Remove binder clips, bulldog clips, ring mechanisms and plastic comb bindings first, as they are too thick for the throat.

How do I shred transparencies on the KOBRA 270 TS C4 AO?

Hold the Forward touch pad for five seconds. The machine then runs continuously for 30 seconds, so clear film that the sensors may not detect is still pulled through the cutters.

Does the 270 TS C4 AO have a duty cycle?

No timed duty cycle applies. Kobra rates the 500 W motor for 24-hour continuous duty with thermal protection. If it stops, the usual cause is an overloaded throat; the EPC load display and automatic reverse help you avoid and clear that.
