KOBRA 260 TS C4 AO

The KOBRA 260 TS C4 AO is the workhorse of the Touch Screen 260 range. Its 3.9 x 40 mm cross cut is 156 mm2, which lands just inside the 160 mm2 ceiling for DIN 66399 P-4 - the level most commercial privacy policies actually require - and because that cut is far coarser than the micro cut on the C2, the same 3/4 HP motor pushes 17-19 sheets a pass instead of 10-12. If your problem is a backlog of paper rather than a classified-material policy, this is the model to buy.

Delivered assembled on castors with the paper bin and the separate optical-media bin in place and the automatic oiler installed. Oil refills and waste bags are consumables and are not supplied with the machine. Order at least one oil refill up front - an empty auto-oiler is the same as no oiler.

Who Should Buy This - and Who Should Not

Buy the 260 TS C4 AO as a shared departmental machine for an office of ten to thirty people where P-4 is the standard and the daily volume is real. It is the fastest machine in the 260 TS cabinet and the one that costs the least per sheet destroyed.

Do not buy it if your policy specifies P-5 or finer - a 3.9 x 40 mm strip is visibly legible in fragments and will fail an audit written against a higher class. The 260 TS C2 AO is the same machine with a 1.9 x 15 mm P-5 head, and the 260 TS HS-6 AO takes it all the way to P-7. Do not buy it for tabloid drawings either: the 10.25-inch throat will not take 11 x 17 inch flat, and the 270 TS chassis is the one with a 12.2-inch throat.

Ownership and Running Costs

The automatic oiler makes this a low-attention machine, not a zero-attention one. Budget for oil refills and 22-gallon bags, and empty the optical-media bin occasionally even though it fills slowly. Cross-cut waste is bulkier than micro-cut waste, so bag consumption is the larger of the two costs in day-to-day use.
